Cam Newton, and Quinton Teal, are both from the tiny community of Wallace, SC. They both played football at Marlboro County and now they are in the same NFL camp. Newton and Teal (Coastal Carolina) are battling to be the backup to starting safety Mike Minter.
“I like them. I like their enthusiasm, and I like the way they
learn,” said starting Panthers safety Mike Minter, whom Newton and Teal
are vying to back up. Entering his 12th and final season with Carolina,
Minter’s word carries weight.
“They’re hungry. They want to play
football. That’s the first thing I look at,” he said. “Do you want to
play football, or is this just about the fame and the money? Well,
these guys want to play football. They couldn’t care less about all
that other stuff.”
