15 Days Till Kickoff Meet #15 Mike Brown

This season Paladin fans will get to see Mike Brown get his first collegiate action. Brown is an explosive runner, he's smart-follows his blockers very well and has excellent footwork. I've watched Brown in practice last season and this pre-season and he's impressive. Brown is battling LaFrance for the #2 tailback spot, but I think we will see these guys play different roles in 07 and both will contribute greatly.

In the spring Brown recorded the second fastest track tested 40 time of 4.3 seconds. So let's just say that Brown has some hops and I can't wait to see what he can do on the corner.

24 Days Till Kickoff Meet #24 Max Lerner

This season reality television star Max Lerner from MTV - Two-A-Days gets to hit the field for his first college action. I'm sure Max gets ribbed a lot for the show, but Lerner is the real deal at safety. Lerner is a smart player and his physical playing style should make him a fan favorite.

Lerner will backup Thomas Twitty another Alabama high school product. That doesn't mean Max won't see much action. I think Max will get alot of opportunities in the Paladins multi- defensive looks and Max could have a huge impact on special teams.

Good luck Max, I know my daughter and some of her girlfriends will be coming to many Paladin games this season, mainly to see you.

25 Days till Kickoff Meet #25 Adrian "Tank" Baker

Adrian is one recruit that I can't wait to see in person. On film Baker is very impressive and he adds tremendous upside to future Paladin backfields. Its interesting to look at the recent recruits at tailback. LaFrance, Standridge, Brown, and now Baker are a combination of speed guys and power guys. Baker is probably the one out of this bunch that fits the Louis Ivory mold. Great balance, runs low to the ground, and can hurt you with his speed.

Baker's final season of high school ball started out slow due to an off-season car accident but he came on strong leading Maryville to a Tennessee state championship.

One WOW note Maryville went 45-0 during Baker's final three years playing. Exciting times are ahead for Paladin fans with players like Brown, Baker, and Coleman in future backfields.

37 Days Till Kickoff Meet #37 Rick Furman

If there ever was a player destined to play at Furman its probably Rick Furman whose fifth great-grandfather founded Furman University in 1826. Furman is a great athlete with excellent size. Rick played quarterback, and cornerback for Christ Church. Rushed for 2,297 yards and passed for 2.030 yards and 55 touchdowns on offense. Registered 79 tackles, 11 interceptions, and 34 pass deflections in two seasons.

Rick also played in the North-South All-Star game in which had a sideline view.  I liked what I saw. Furman played corner and safety and his game awareness was impressive.

Rick’s football accolades are surpassed by his academic achievements. National Merit Commended Student...International Baccalaureate Student...Furman University Scholar...Will Grist Scholarship Award recipient...Blair Babb Smoak Award winner.

Will Cardinal Coleman be the future replacement for Jerome Felton? One thing is for sure Coleman has the pedigree, Robert Edwards and Terrance Edwards are cousins. Cardinal played linebacker and fullback for Washington County. Starting in 36 games over three seasons and racked up 329 tackles, nine forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and three interceptions his career, also rushed for 375 yards and three scores. His high school coach compares him to Takeo Spikes. Has ideal size for an ILB and has pretty good pursuit skills and can pack a punch. Stared both ways in high school and many recruiting analysts had him pegged for a linebacker in college. But Furman will take his physical play and put it on offense, a move that should prove very successful. Coleman is a very good student.

I got to see Anderson play for Emerald in person last season. Anderson is impressive physically and I liked his aggressive style on the field. Anderson should be a perfect teammate for Brandon Boykin giving Furman two speedy linebackers for many years to come.

2007 graduate of Emerald (2A) High School...football coach was Mike Clowney...saw action at six positions, including free safety, wide receiver, wingback, quarterback, as well as punt and kickoff returns...registered 342 tackles, 12 interceptions, eight forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in his career... three-time All-Lakeland and all-region selection and two-time coaches all-state honoree...collected 73 tackles and an interception in 2006 on a team that finished 3-7 following the graduation of 23 seniors...notched 128 tackles his junior year in helping his squad to an 11-3 record, regional championship, and Upper State runner-up finish...tallied 21 stops, two forced fumbles, and an interception in a 28-21 win over Newberry in the Upper State semifinals...also played basketball and ran track...averaged 17.0 points and 9.2 rebounds in basketball as a senior.

Personal: Full name is Kadarron Daloma Anderson...son of Sheila Anderson and Leroy Golden...born June 6, 1989, in Rock Hill, South Carolina...has lived in the Connie Maxwell Children's Home since he was eight years old...has a brother, Demarco, and sisters Narkeisha, Sabrina, and Christa...brother Demarco Anderson plays football at Pikeville College...cousin Jonathan Joseph plays for the Cincinnati Bengals...cousin Arkee Whitlock was a standout tailback for Southern Illinois University.

From what I've heard Obata is a similar player to Justin Brown. This looks like another play that will continue to add speed to the Paladin defensive front.

2007 graduate of Martin Luther King (AAAAA) High School...football coach was Correy Jarvis...played defensive line, linebacker, and running back...compiled 268 tackles, 26 sacks, 47 tackles-for-loss, and eight forced fumbles in his career...helped his school post a 30-8 record and earn state playoff appearances in each of his three seasons...registered 91 tackles, including 21 for-loss, and six sacks in 2006 while leading his team to a 10-3 campaign...two-time all-county selection and 2006 all-region pick.

2006 graduate of Oconee (3A) High School...football coach was Neal Auer...played offensive and defensive line and also served as a long snapper...attended Furman's Offensive Lineman Camp...two-year starter on the offensive and defensive fronts...named first team All-Northeast Georgia as a tackle in 2005 after making the same team as an offensive guard his junior year...served as co-captain in 2005...two-time recipient of Oconee County's Scholar-Athlete Award...helped his squad go 8-4 in 2004, capture the Region 8-AAA championship, and advance three rounds into the state playoffs...committed to Furman last fall after also drawing interest from Georgia Southern, The Citadel, and Coastal Carolina.

Antonio Frazier is another talented young offensive lineman. Frazier earned a redshirt last season and was a member of the scout team.

2006 graduate of Baylor (Division II-3A) School...football coach was David Bibee...played offensive tackle and defensive end during his prep tenure...first team Division II all-state selection and two-time first team All-Super 7 honoree...named to 2005 Chattanooga Times Free-Press Best of Preps Team...attended Furman's Offensive Lineman Camp...also competes in track and baseball...was also recruited by Harvard, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee State, and Chattanooga.

Everything I’ve read and heard about Ryan Lee tells me he’s going to be a good one. Carrollton head coach says “He’s a great one, Ryan is high-integrity, very strong and very intense.”

Lee was a three-year starter for the Trojans, two-time all-area and 2006 Atlanta Journal-Constitution All-State honorable mention. Lee was also a starter in the Georgia North-South All-Star Game. Lee’s numbers; runs a 4.9 forty, bench presses 360, power clean 370 and 560 squat.

Lee is also an excellent baseball pitcher. An all-state performer, Lee has recorded nine wins in 2005 and 2006. Also broke the Georgia state power clean record in 2006 with a lift of 370 pounds.
